White Lake Conservation Preserve
and
Areas of Natural Scientific Interest

The White Lake Conservation Preserve was created in 2003 to help protect wetlands and areas of natural and scientific interest. The document describing these lands and establishing the preserve is linked below.

In 2017, The Lanark County Council reclassified many of these lands to rural. The new classification opens up these lands for development, and we feel places important wetlands on White Lake in danger of damage or serious alteration. This would effect aquatic plants, fish stocks and other wildlife including loons, frogs and turtles.

Below are two maps showing the extent of the 2003 classification and the new 2017 re-classification.
